22nd of May is World Biodiversity Day

The World Biodiversity Day 2021 is celebrated under the motto: “We’re part of the solution”. It serves as a reminder that biodiversity remains the answer to our sustainable development challenges. From nature-based solutions to climate, health issues, food and water security, and sustainable livelihoods, biodiversity is the foundation for recovery and KBAs are how we determine the most important places for live on Earth. BirdLife Australia and our international KBA Partners are working hard to ensure KBAs will be central to the new Biodiversity Framework that will be set at this year’s UN Biodiversity Conference in China.

Why does it matter? Making KBAs something countries report on to their peers inspires governement and NGO conservation action in Australia and globally.
